1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Learn Korean Alphabet: Hangul ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App. These Terms apply to all users of the App, including users of the free and Premium versions. Your use of the hanguledu.com website ("the Website") is also governed by these Terms where they apply.

2. Description of Service

Learn Korean Alphabet: Hangul (also referred to as Hangul Hero) is an educational mobile application developed by VIKTOR SOKOLIUK and distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store. The App teaches you to read Korean: Hangul letter lessons, reading rules, practice drills and quizzes, vocabulary, and everyday phrases with audio and sound-by-sound breakdowns. Some features are available for free; others require a Premium subscription. The Website offers free learning pages about the Korean alphabet and phrases.

3. Premium Subscription

The App offers Premium access through auto-renewable subscriptions, currently a monthly and an annual plan, that unlock additional content and features beyond the free tier. Prices may differ by platform, country, currency, promotions, introductory offers, and store configuration. The applicable purchase screen controls the plans and prices available to you.

  • Billing: For iOS, payment is charged through the Apple App Store using your Apple Account. For Android, payment is charged through Google Play using your Google Play account. The applicable store processes the transaction.
  • Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled in accordance with the applicable store's rules before the renewal date.
  • Cancellation: You manage or cancel a subscription through the store account from which it was purchased, for example Apple Account subscription settings on iOS or Google Play → Subscriptions on Android. Cancellation generally takes effect at the end of the current billing period, subject to the applicable store's rules.
  • Free trials and introductory offers: An eligible plan may include a free trial or other introductory offer. Eligibility and duration are shown by the applicable store and purchase screen. Unless cancelled in accordance with the applicable store's rules, an eligible trial converts to the displayed paid subscription at the end of the trial.
  • Restore Purchases: The App provides a restore-purchases function for eligible purchases where supported by the applicable store. Restoration is subject to the store's account, transaction, and platform rules.
  • Refunds: Store purchases are processed by Apple or Google Play. Refund requests are handled under the applicable store's policies and procedures. We do not directly process refunds for purchases made through Apple or Google Play.
  • Price changes: Subscription prices and available plans may change. Any applicable notice or consent process is handled according to the applicable store's rules.

Subscriptions are managed with RevenueCat, a third-party subscription-management service, as described in our Privacy Policy.

4. Free vs Premium

The free version of the App includes the basic alphabet, introductory lessons, and a limited selection of phrases, with daily limits on certain activities and optional rewarded ads. Premium subscribers receive the full alphabet and learning path, all phrase packs, unlimited practice and saved words, and any future content added to the App, without daily limits and without ads. Features available in each tier are subject to change.

5. Rewarded Ads and In-App Rewards

The free version of the App lets you watch rewarded ads to receive in-app rewards, such as an extra practice session or extra letter views.

  • Optional: Watching ads is always optional. The App shows no banner or interstitial ads.
  • Rewards: A reward is granted only after the ad has been completed.
  • Limits and availability: Daily limits apply to rewarded extras, and ad availability is not guaranteed.
  • Virtual items: Rewards, XP, streaks, and badges are virtual, have no monetary value, and cannot be purchased, sold, exchanged, transferred, or redeemed for money or anything else. They may be changed or reset, including daily.
  • Premium: Premium subscribers are not shown ads.

6. Audio and Learning Content

Korean pronunciation audio for letters and phrases is synthesized speech generated with Google Cloud Text-to-Speech, not recordings of a native speaker. Pronunciations, romanizations, translations, and usage notes are provided for learning purposes only and may contain errors or simplifications; we do not guarantee their accuracy or completeness.

7. User Conduct

By using the App, you agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
  • Copy, reproduce, or distribute App content without prior written permission
  • Use the App for any unlawful or unauthorized purpose
  • Attempt to circumvent any content restriction or subscription paywall
  • Manipulate, automate, or circumvent ad rewards or daily limits
  • Interfere with the security or proper functioning of the App

8. Intellectual Property

All content within the App and the Website, including but not limited to lesson text, audio, illustrations, photos, and interface design, is owned by or licensed to VIKTOR SOKOLIUK. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial educational purposes only. No content may be reproduced or distributed without express written permission.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App and the Website are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that it will meet your specific learning objectives. Language learning outcomes depend on individual effort and practice.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, VIKTOR SOKOLIUK shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App or the Website, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at our discretion, without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will remain in effect.

12. Apple App Store

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) applies in addition to these Terms. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify users via an in-app notice or by updating this page. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
